Name + Title: Cristóbal Pérez, Director Business Development, Welocalize Life Sciences

Office location: Barcelona, Spain

Hire date: 2001

Where were you born?  Barcelona

Languages spoken: Catalan, Spanish, English and German

What did you study at university (and where)? Philosophy and Education Sciences in Barcelona and in Halle-Wittenberg.

If you could learn any language, which would you pick and why? Probably Chinese, Japanese and Arabic. Since each language is a different way to see the world, I would tend to choose a language which is far away to the ones here in Europe.

Do you have a bucket list? What is something you are hoping to check off the list soon? Well, although I have stopped playing the guitar—I was quite busy taking care of my second daughter—I expect to be able to record my “fingerstyle songs” in the next two years. It is a kind of PhD for me. I will keep you updated 😊

What are you most proud of (personally and/or professionally)? First of all, my family, for sure. And professionally, I feel proud of the trust the clients place on me. This is a huge responsibility and at the same time an honor.

What are your best tips for maintaining and developing relationships with clients? Listen, listen and listen.

What medical device and/or life sciences’ industry publications or resources do you recommend? I get updated mainly through my conversations with our clients. For news, Linkedin is probably my most important source of information right now.

Any trends you’re seeing in the life sciences industry? I think we are now in a centralization moment where many companies have been acquired by bigger ones. As a language service company, we have to be prepared to cover both global and local needs with the highest quality and the closest contact we can.
